Spend 12 weeks immersed in web development at UNF!

Overview

At this time, Jax Code Academy is planning to host two Full-Stack Web Development Bootcamps during 2020. Our bootcamps are hosted at the University of North Florida (UNF). The duration of each course is twelve weeks, and class is in session Monday thru Friday, from 9am to 3pm. The purpose of this bootcamp is to teach you the skills needed to be fully qualified and employable as a Web Developer. This course is also available for those looking to advance their coding career by expanding their knowledge and skills as a programmer.

“Everyone should learn how to code, it teaches you how to think.”

-Steve Jobs

What is a Full-Stack Web Developer?

A full-stack developer is someone who works with all layers in computer software development, as opposed to just being a front-end or back-end developer. Front-end developers focus on the user interface and experience because they’re building an application for the user to interact with. Everything the user sees and connects with has been designed and coded by them. On the other hand, a back-end developer puts an emphasis on programming because they’re primarily dealing with the utility of the application. A back-end developer thinks about how a server will interact with his code in relation to a database. As a combination of the two, a full-stack web developer has a functional knowledge of complete software development. They have the ability to take a concept and turn it into a finished product.

Typical Day at Bootcamp

Bootcamp begins each day at 9am in the University of North Florida’s John A. Delaney Student Union Building. Your instructor will start by going over the previous day’s assignments, before introducing new material. Students will work through the new material via assignments, projects, challenges, etc. until the end of class time. In addition to the instructor, Jax Code Teaching Assistants will be in the room to provide personalized guidance and training. Your instructor and teaching assistants will help you during this “work-shop” time to make sure you are on the right track and feel confident about your work.

After class time, students can work off-campus or find a place on campus, alone or in groups, to work on projects. Students are expected to continue studying materials provided and work on assignments outside of class hours. Your instructor and teaching assistants will be available to help you via email, phone, text, video call, and in-person.  The University of North Florida has a variety of places to study, including the Student Union Building, Starbucks, food courts, and outdoor areas with beautiful views of the campus. WIFI is available campus wide so you can move about as you wish.

Internship Program

After Bootcamp

Following the conclusion of bootcamp, we offer our students the choice to stay at Jax Code Academy, working under our Internship Program. This gives our graduates the opportunity to continue developing their skills and start building a résumé.
